silk Hanami?

Hello from Denver, Colorado - I am very excited about the Hanami KAL, and am cutting my teeth on the MS3 right now. Any thoughts/reactions about my plans to use silk for the Hanami shawl? I saw some silk shawl photos on Ravelry and was encouraged. I'll probably stick to the pale pink, in honor of the theme. The shawl is intended for my sister - who lived in Japan for several years and now lives in Seattle with her Japanese husband and two gorgeous daughters.

I think the pics on Ravelry with the silk Hanami's look great. I think I may also choose silk, or a silk blend.

Happy Knitting!

Silk is very yummy. I used Seasilk for a Tuscany shawl and it is just divine! I'm using Zephyr for my MS3 which is wool and silk. It is also nice but not quite as shiny as the Seasilk.

Clue 4 is up soon! Glad to have you here in the mean time.

I don't see how you could possibly go wrong knitting anything in silk! But its one of my favorite fibers. Plus silk = Asia in my mind, so it also links to the theme.

Thanks, Mary - and good point about it going with the theme! I have not knitted with silk yet (perhaps some in a blend, but not alone), but am looking forward to it. Do you have a favorite silk that comes in lace weight?

Okay! Taking heart from these comments and the pictures I managed to view on Ravelry, I jumped into the pool and ordered 2 skeins of Oceanwinds Suri Silk Laceweight in a varegated light pink called "Tickled." If the yarn is anywhere near as nice as the pictures, I'll be golden! Vicky in Denver
