Heart Breaking

There I was, almost at the end of the second basketweave repeat, when disaster struck. Well, technically disaster had struck looong before that. I screwed up in the garter rows - can you believe it?!!

I could have left it, and I was sorely tempted to, but it was very obvious. I've been knitting too many things at once. I was in the middle of doing the k2, p2 ribbing of socks when on the second row of garter stitch on the stole. Guess what I did on the second row? Then, I was working on a sweater for a bit. So the fourth, fifth, and sixth row of the stole are stockinette. Somehow I added three more rows of garter before working the basketweave.

I broke my own heart frogging the whole of my progress. The worst is that I had decided to add extra beads into the project. A lot of extra beads. I had to carefully pick each one off the yarn as I got to it while frogging away. It took almost as long to frog as to knit.

Anyone else have any traumatic knitting experiences with Hanami yet? Care to join my personal pity party?

Oh you poor thing. But just think, when its all done again and you are pleased with the stole the pain will be a thing of the past.

I'm sorry to hear about your trouble with the stole. I'll join your pity party...I've started and frogged twice already. I didn't get as far as you did, I hadn't completed a basket weave repeat. But still, frogging and picking the beads off...I feel your pain :(.

I am where you are...frogging all the way back. I don't know what I did but I did it and it looked like a neon sign. But, I've finished a sweater and gone to knitting a sock on small needles, so try...try again. We'll hang in there together. Teri

I totally understand your misery. I did my own version by accidentally yanking on my silk yarn and having a bunch of stitches fly off the needle an immediately run like pantyhose. You can't really recover that so well in the basketweave section and I don't use lifelines. I think I tinked about 15 rows, not frgged, *tinked*

Should I say better luck next time??? or maybe pass the chocolate would be better :-)

I frogged too - right back to the begginning! It sucks but you know what doesn't kill us makes us stronger knitters!

Ouch - ! - You're not alone, though. I had to rip back half the first basketweave chart to the last row of garter stitch, and now I've just realized I'm off one stitch in the 2nd basketweave repeat. I keep looking at it and trying to figure out if I need to frog or not -- trying to avoid it, of course -- I'm going to take it outside in the bright sunshine and see if the pattern is hopelessly marred or if I can sneak that little stitch back in someplace... Knit on!
